Description: This workshop will provide education for the registered nurse regarding care of a laboring woman with an emphasize on fetal heart rate monitoring.

ObjectivesUpon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
-List key components of an admission assessment of the laboring women
-Describe factors that regulate the fetal heart rate
-Describe benefits and limitations of each type of fetal and uterine monitoring
-List two physiologic goals and their interventions designated to improve fetal heat rate tracing
-Describe normal uterine activity and factors affecting
-List three types of baseline fetal heart rates, causes, and interventions for each
-Analyze FHR patterns and their implications for fetal well-being
-Describe documentation guidelines for fetal heart monitoring
-Review fetal monitoring strips
