 will discuss EMTALA definitions and requirements.\n\nDescribe basic requir
 ements of EMTALA.\nDescribe why EMTALA is the most-frequently cited defici
 ency nationwide.\nDiscuss where EMTALA applies in facilities.\nReview exam
 ples of how the hospital can keep current on changes in regulations.\n\nJa
 nuary 16\, 2024 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Session 2\nThis part will discuss a rang
 e of EMTALA issues including:\n\n\n\nAdequacy of medical screening examina
 tions.\nAppropriate transfers.\nEMTALA signage.\nDifferences in transfer r
 equirements for ED\, observation and inpatients.\n\n\nDefine what language
  must be on required EMTALA signage and where it must be located.\nDescrib
 e what constitutes an adequate medical screening examination for behaviora
 l health\, obstetric and other patients.\nDescribe what constitutes an app
 ropriate certification of false labor.\nIllustrate what an appropriate tra
 nsfer entails and what must be included on the transfer form.\n\nJamuary 2
 3\, 2025 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Session 3&nbsp\;\nThis part will focus on physi
 cian involvement with the EMTALA process including:\n\nHow to deal with ri
 sky patient situations such as leaving against medical advice and leaving 
 without being seen.\nOn-call physician requirements.\nWhen an on-call phys
 ician must appear in the emergency department.\nQIO role in EMTALA survey 
 progress\nDescribe on-call physician rules including schedules and when th
 e on-call physician must appear in the emergency department.\nDescribe the
  Office of Inspector General role and recent deficiencies and fines concer
 ning on-call physicians.\nDescribe the quality improvement organization’s 
 role with EMTALA.\nExamine documentation requirements for challenging pati
 ent situations.\n\n&nbsp\;Continuing Education:&nbsp\; Clock Hours:&nbsp\;
