The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a course designed to provide the learner with cognitive knowledge
and psychomotor skills. The Trauma nursing process is used to standardize the approach to trauma care and is reflected in the chapters and in the psychomotor skill station in the manual.
The Emergency Nurses Association believes that the knowledge and psychomotor skill as identified in the Trauma Nursing Core Course will assist professional nurses to systematically assess the trauma patient and to intervene or to assist with interventions in a manner that will decrease the current mortality and morbidity associated with trauma.
Upon completion of the TNCC course the participant will be able to:
*Discuss the concepts and principles of the primary and secondary patient assessment
*Establish trauma patient management priorities
*Demonstrate a standardized, systematic and organized approach to assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of the trauma patient
